Dress Du Jour: Jessica Stam in Thom Browne
The Canadian model donned a perfectly simple, sleeveless dress to the American Ballet Theatre's Spring Gala at New York's Metropolitan Opera House.
The Dress: A long, vest-like, tailored dress adorned with gold buttons by New York-based designer Thom Browne. Naturally the man knows how to tailor — he's up for Menswear Designer of the Year at the CFDA Awards on June 3.
The Wearer: Canadian fashion model Jessica Stam. She also wore a dress of Brown's design to this year's Kentucky Derby, as seen from a selfie on her Instagram. Um, we want to learn how to do eyeliner like that.
The Event: The American Ballet Theatre's Spring Gala on May 13 at New York's Metropolitan Opera House. Other attendees included Uma Thurman, Lucy Liu, Ashlee Simpson and supermodel Coco Rocha.
The Reason We Dig: Sometimes, simple is the way to go — and black tie affairs are no exception. White in front and black in back, the androgynous look was complimented by a pair of two-tone black and white pumps and a playful striped clutch. Sure, Stam's choice was a tad casual. But when you've got a pretty pixie-cut and fierce blue eyes, a classicly modern plain dress is all you really need to stun the crowd.
