DUBAI, United Arab Emirates -- In an effort to foster a more viable environment for local production, the Dubai International Film Festival has teamed up with Luxembourg-based European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs to conduct a first-time workshop called Coaching for Producers.
Offering instruction production activities ranging from script development, financing strategies and marketing, EAVE CEO Alan Fountain said the five-day workshop gives UAE filmmakers the opportunity to immerse themselves in the production process.
"We invited 10 local producers and filmmakers to take part in the program," he said. "When the festival invited us to participate, we recognized immediately that this is a very valuable opportunity to share our expertise with a vibrant part of the world."
EAVE, which is sponsored by the Luxembourg Film Fund, has forged partnerships with a number of leading festivals and markets, including the Cannes Producer's Network, the Berlinale Co-production Market and the Rotterdam CineMart.
Asked about his experience with DIFF, Fountain offered a glowing review. "Sometimes when you take part in film events like this there can be organizational problems, but that has not been the case here," he said. "This has been a great experience. Everything is run very smoothly."
