LONDON – Lana Wachowski, Tom Tykwer and Andy Wachowski's Cloud Atlas, starring Tom Hanks, Halle Berry and Keanu Reeves, is one of a slew of high profile movies added to this year's Dubai International Film Festival lineup.

The movie, which also features turns from Jim Broadbent, Susan Sarandon, Jim Sturgess and Hugo Weaving and is based on the best-selling novel from David Mitchell, has secured a berth in the festival's "Cinema of the World" sidebar.

Also added is Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master, Roger Michell’s Hyde Park on Hudson starring Bill Murray, Dustin Hoffman's directorial debut Quartet with Maggie Smith and Wayne Blair's musical drama The Sapphires.

The ninth edition of the Dubai International Film Festival runs Dec. 9 through16.

Sheila Whitaker, director of the festival’s international program, said: "DIFF’s Cinema of the World program this year is a fascinating range of remarkable films from some of international cinemas finest filmmakers and acting talent."

Paul Thomas Anderson's The Master centers on an aimless WWII veteran who befriends the charismatic founder of a new religion and stars Joaquin Phoenix and Philip Seymour Hoffman.

Michel's Hyde Park on Hudson tells the story of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and his love affair with his distant cousin, Daisy.

Hoffman's debut focuses on a trio of retired opera singers living out their sunset years in an idyllic care home for aging musician. Smith appears alongside Tom Courtenay, Pauline Collins, Billy Connolly and Michael Gambon.

The Sapphires stars Chris O’Dowd in a tale about a quartet of young, talented singers from a remote Aboriginal mission in the late 1960s.

The five titles joins a lineup already announced which includes James Cameron's Cirque du Soleil: Worlds Away 3D, Jacques Audiard's Rust and Bone starring Marion Cotillard and star-studded documentary Radioman, featuring interviews with Meryl Streep, George Clooney, Matt Damon, Johnny Depp and Hanks.
