LONDON -- A little Dutch werewolf, an Indian street boy who flies a kite and a Norwegian classic folk tale are among the subjects of movies selected for the Dubai International Film Festival's cinema for children sidebar.
Billed as a magical Christmas adventure from Norway, Journey to the Christmas Star will get its world premiere as part of the sidebar and details the quest of a little girl to find a Christmas star to release the kingdom from a curse.
The sidebar also includes Alfie, the Little Werewolf, a Dutch movie about a boy who turns into a werewolf at the full moon on his seventh birthday and Gattu, billed as an optimistic and uplifting tale of an orphaned illiterate street boy called Gattu and his one great passion -- flying kites.
DIFF artistic director Masoud Amralla Al Ali said: "Every year we make every effort to bring our younger audiences intelligent, entertaining and compelling films that leave a lasting impression with audiences of all ages. The line-up this year is a wonderful selection of films that have wowed critics around the world and are less likely to be found at the local multiplex cinemas, a true treasure trove of cinematic gems."
The ninth edition of the festival runs Dec. 9-16.
