Cannes 2012: Duncan Jones to Direct Action Thriller Based on Ian Fleming Biography
Filmmakers plans have the blessing of the James Bond creator's estate for the project that is being whispered about to buyers by K5 International.
The name's Bond, Jones Bond.
British director in demand Duncan Jones is signed to direct an action-packed thriller based on James Bond creator Ian Fleming's early life.
Before becoming the best-selling author of the Bond books, Fleming traveled the globe and masterminded real-life top-secret operations, helping supply inspiration for this famous creation, before and during World War II as a naval intelligence officer.
Jones says he aims to explore and tie together the author's real life events using the biography, Ian Fleming, The Man Behind James Bond as a basis for his film.
Jones said: "Fleming lived through one of the most perilous periods in world history, in a position that allowed him a unique vantage point of all the players, all the stakes. He witnesses true heroism first-hand. And he saw the evil men could do. Then, when the war ended, he went off to write fiction. The essential question for me is where did Ian Fleming end and Bond begin?"
K5 Film, headed by Oliver Simon and Daniel Baur, PalmStar Media Capital's Kevin Frakes and Liberty Films' Stuart Fenegan will produce in association with Jim Young and Robert Laycock of the Ian Fleming Estate.
K5 International is introducing the project to buyers worldwide during this year's Cannes.
Jones is casting the movie and is repped by Jay Baker and Maha Dakhil at CAA in the US and Jack Thomas at Independent Talent Group in London.
