TORONTO -- Veteran Bollywood actors Priety Zinta and Seema Biswas have joined the cast of "Heaven on Earth," the upcoming theatrical feature from Canadian helmer Deepa Mehta.

Mehta's drama about a young Indian woman in an abusive arranged marriage will begin shooting in India and Canada on Nov. 5.

Zinta, who is at the Toronto International Film Festival this week to help launch her latest film, Rituparno Ghosh's "The Last Lear," will play the young bride in "Earth."

Mongrel Media has picked up the Canadian rights to Mehta's first feature film since "Water." That film's 2000 shoot in Benares, India had to be abandoned after riots by local Hindu fundamentalists.

"Water" was eventually completed in 2003 in Sri Lanka under a media blackout, and opened the 2005 Toronto International Film Festival before being nominated for an Oscar in the best foreign-language film category.

Mongrel Media released "Water" in Canada, where it took in $2.2 million at the domestic boxoffice. The drama raked in $13 million worldwide.

"Water" producer David Hamilton will produce "Heaven on Earth."
