'Off Duty' calls to comedy pair
EmptyNBC is going "Off Duty" with Upright Citizens Brigade comedian Jason Mantzoukas and "Semi-Pro" writer Scot Armstrong.
Sources said the network has handed out a cast-contingent pilot order to the single-camera buddy comedy, penned by Mantzoukas, that revolves around cops who can't leave their job at the station.
Mantzoukas will co-executive produce "Off Duty," which will be executive produced by Armstrong and Ravi Nandan through their company American Work.
Mantzoukas probably is best known for his onstage collaborations with Jessica St. Clair, including the sketch show "We Used to Go Out" and the improvised show "First Date." He is repped by CAA, manager Christie Smith and attorney Jeff Endlich.
Armstrong is with CAA and attorney Ken Richman.
After going mostly for straight-to-series orders last year, NBC now has ordered three pilots since the upfronts, "Off Duty," "LAPD" and an untitled Jon Pollack comedy. (partialdiff)
