Dylan McDermott to Star in Indie Thriller 'Freezer'
"Band of Brothers" helmer Mikael Salomon will direct from a script by Tom Doganoglu and Shane Weisfeld.
Dylan McDermott has signed to star in Freezer, an action thriller that Envision Media Arts will finance.
Mikael Salomon (HBO’s Band of Brothers) will direct from a script by Tom Doganoglu and Shane Weisfeld. The film will shoot this month in Edmonton, Alberta.
The story centers on an everyday guy (McDermott) who finds himself tested beyond human endurance when he awakens to find himself locked in an industrial freezer by Russian thugs. They insist he returns the $8 million he stole from them -- the only problem is, he has no idea what they are talking about. As he fights for his life before freezing to death, the truth slowly reveals itself.
Lee Nelson and David Buelow will produce for Envision.
The company financed and produced such recent films as Jennifer Lynch’s Chained and the Rashida Jones-Andy Samberg romantic comedy Celeste & Jesse Forever.
McDermott next appears in Antoine Fuqua’s Olympus Has Fallen, opposite Gerard Butler and Morgan Freeman, and the Selena Gomez vehicle Behaving Badly. His recent films include The Perks of Being a Wallflower, The Campaign and Nobody Walks. He also has returned to FX’s American Horror Story.
McDermott is repped by CAA and the Schiff Co.
Salomon is an Academy Award-nominated and Emmy-winning director and cinematographer. As a director, he is best known for his work on the HBO miniseries Band of Brothers. As a cinematographer, he has shot more than 50 films including The Abyss and Backdraft, garnering Oscar noms for both.
He is handled by CAA.
