E1 signs multi-territory deal for 'Tekken'

Takes European, South African rights for the live action movie

TORONTO -- Entertainment One has picked up European and South African rights for the live action "Tekken" movie from Crystal Pictures.

The multi-territory deal, which follows Anchor Bay acquiring the U.S. rights to the movie based on the popular video and arcade game, will see Entertainment One snag rights for France, Scandinavia and South Africa.

The Toronto-based distributor plans a release in France and Scandinavia in early January 2011, followed by distribution in South Africa in March.

Based on the Namco video game franchise, "Tekken" was directed by Dwight Little from a screenplay by Alan B. McElroy, and stars Jon Foo as the film's protagonist Jin Kazama, Luke Goss, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, Ian Anthony Dale and Kelly Overton.
