Nearly 3,000 flights were canceled in anticipation of a massive blizzard heading to the East Coast, CNN reported. Weather forecasters are saying that New York could get a foot of snow, while Boston might get up to three feet.

The cancelations have forced many in the industry to scrap plans to travel to various events this weekend, including the Grammys (Sunday in Los Angeles), the American Society of Cinematographers Awards (Sunday in L.A.), the Sci-Tech Oscars (Saturday in L.A.), the BAFTA Awards (Sunday in London), the inaugural Emmy Kids Awards (Friday in New York) and Fashion Week (which kicked off Thursday in New York).

Marc Jacobs already has rescheduled his Fashion Week Collection show from 8 p.m. Monday to 8 p.m. Thursday because of customs and delivery delays, WWD reported.

"We're missing bags, shoes and two fabrics, " Marc Jacobs International president Robert Duffy said.

Others -- like Project Runway, whose season 11 finale show is set for 10 a.m. Friday, and Herve Leger Max Azria, whose show is 2:30 p.m. Saturday -- say there are no plans to reschedule. Thursday is the lightest day at this year's Fashion Week, so those designers who do decide to postpone would likely follow Jacobs' lead in rescheduling for that day.

Meanwhile, broadcast network series Blue Bloods, The Carrie Diaries, Elementary, The Good Wife, Person of Interest and Smash are all currently filming in New York, as is FX's The Americans. Though no comments were issued, none of the shows are expected to be affected.

"We are closely monitoring the storm but have no plans to revoke permits at the moment," the New York Mayor's Office told The Hollywood Reporter. The mayor's office also is telling residents to stock up on supplies and medicine due to potential power outages and transportation difficulties.

Saturday Night Live is also on this weekend, with Justin Bieber slated to host and perform as the musical guest.

The New York-based late-night shows The Daily Show and The Colbert Report won't be affected this week because they don't tape on Fridays. Late Night With Jimmy Fallon is scheduled to tape Friday with guests Jason Schwartzman, Keri Russell and Night Beds.)

Incidentally, it is worth noting that the Weather Channel has dubbed this storm "Nemo," which, of course, is reminiscent of the animated movie Finding Nemo.

“Is naming it after a beloved cartoon character the best way to keep kids from going out in the storm?” Jimmy Kimmel quipped in his Thursday night monologue.
