EFA unveils People's Choice nominees
European moviegoers invited to vote for their favoriteBERLIN -- Roman Polanski's "The Ghost Writer," Lone Scherfig's coming-of-age tale "An Education" and geek superhero story "Kick-Ass" from Brit director Matthew Vaughn are among the films contending in the people's choice category at this year's European Film Awards.
Swedish thriller "The Girl Who Played With Fire," the second in the Stieg Larsson "Millenium" trilogy, also made the EFA cut and will go head-to-head with sci-fi fantasy "Mr. Nobody" from Belgian helmer Jaco van Dormael and two historic epics: Alejandro Amenabar's "Agora" and Giuseppe Tornatore's "Baaria."
Three comedies round up the nominees: Fatih Akin's "Soul Kitchen," Ferzn Ozpetek's "Loose Cannons" and "Little Nicholas" from French director Laurent Tirard.
European moviegoers can vote for their favorite at www.europeanfilmawards.eu. The winner will be announced at the EFA ceremony on Saturday, Dec. 4 in the Estonian capital Tallinn.
