Eileen O'Neill to Oversee TLC, Discovery in Newly Created Position
TLC president and GM Eileen O'Neill has been promoted to the newly created position of Group President, Discovery and TLC Networks.
O'Neill, No. 25 on The Hollywood Reporter's 2010 Women in Entertainment Power List, will oversee both flagship networks in her newly expanded role.
O'Neill has been TLC's chief since 2008 and has shepherded programs such as Sarah Palin's Alaska, American Chopper, Hoarding: Buried Alive, Cake Boss and Say Yes to the Dress.
O'Neill's promotion is part of a larger restructuring of Discovery's U.S. Networks.
She began at the network as an intern, and was praised for her ratings prowess in a statement by Discovery Communications President and CEO David Zaslav, "Her big, bold swings at TLC have transformed that network and driven it into the top 10 for women with an incredible 31 series averaging more than 1 million viewers in 2010."
Discovery also announced Wednesday that Marjorie Kaplan was promoted to president of Animal Planet and Science Networks.
