Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine Pictures Hires Former New Line Exec Marina Brackenbury to Spearhead Development

LONDON – Shine Pictures, the film division of Elisabeth Murdoch’s Shine Group, has hired Marina Brackenbury to head up its development department.

Brackenbury will jointly report to Shine Pictures’ head of film Ollie Madden and executive chairman Stephen Garrett and is tasked with building up Shine’s development roster.

Shine Pictures has a joint venture with New Regency, and is producing the Brad Pitt starrer The Gray Man, directed by James Gray, through that.

Shine is also producing the big screen version of bestselling Scandinavian thriller Three Seconds for New Regency and has a sequel to Eastern Promises set up at Focus Features.

Brackenbury resume boasts a stint as head of development at commercials and music video production company Stink.

Through that role she also ran the outfit’s feature film department, developing material with directors on the books and bolstering their diverse film slate out of the London and LA offices.

She has also worked in acquisitions and co-productions within New Line Cinema’s international ops and subsequently Bob Berney’s Picturehouse.
