Amid Protest, JCPenney Keeping Ellen as Spokeswoman
A conservative group is calling for the comedian and talk show host to be fired because of her sexual orientation.
An organization angered by JCPenney's hiring of Ellen DeGeneres as its new spokesperson has failed in its quest to get the comedian fired.
One Million Moms objected to DeGeneres' sexual orientation. The same group protested against Macy's last year for offering a wedding cake topper featuring two men, reports Yahoo Shine.

"Funny that JCPenney thinks hiring an open homosexual spokesperson will help their business when most of their customers are traditional families," read a note on the group's website.
DeGeneres, whose daytime talk show draws more than 3 million viewers per episode, has attracted online defenders.
"As an American Mom in a traditional family with no gay or lesbian family members, I want to respond with a big congratulations to both you and Ellen," one person wrote on JCPenney's page.

A commentator on DeGeneres' Facebook page said she hoped the members of One Million Moms could "open their hearts and accept people for who they are."
JCPenney released a statement to Yahoo Shine, saying it "stands behind its partnership with Ellen DeGeneres."
