"The Oscars are on Sunday because the best way to end Black History Month is to have the whitest Oscars ever."

Stephen Colbert and Ellen DeGeneres joked about the lack of diversity at the Oscars this year on their shows this week.

On Thursday's episode of The Late Show, Colbert gave tips on how to make Oscar parties great. "Don't make the same mistake the Academy made," said Colbert, "Be sure to have a diverse guest list."

He added, "If all of your friends are white, you are a racist — fix that by Sunday, OK?" The host also joked about writing live tweets ahead of time and watching the red carpet so nobody misses Bryan Cranston's side-boob.

During a monologue airing Thursday, DeGeneres went through a rundown of the eight movies nominated for best picture, recapping the plot of some films while making up the plot of others. She introduced her recap by saying, "The Oscars are on Sunday because the best way to end Black History Month is to have the whitest Oscars ever."

She added, "They’ve already rolled out the red carpet at the theater and Jennifer Lawrence has already tripped on it already. She falls a lot."
