On Nov. 14, Elmore Leonard will receive the National Book Foundation's Distinguished Contribution to American Letters medal in New York.
But the author, 87, has another milestone on his mind: finally signing the papers on his most recent divorce, from third wife Christine Leonard, which has been tied up in court for more than a year.
"It's probably the best thing that's happened to me," he tells THR. "I got married too quickly after my second wife died. It'll be over by the end of this month."
He goes on to underline the obvious, for someone whose work has been developed into Out of Sight, 3:10 to Yuma, FX's Justified and other lucrative properties: "It's going to cost money."
