This Is the Deal With Emily Blunt's Fresh Lip-Focused Makeup
The actress' longtime makeup artist, Jenn Streicher, fills us in on Blunt's Met Gala look.
"When I saw the dress, I knew I wanted to stay classic, as Emily [Blunt] is such an archetypal beauty, and her gown embodied that with its minimalistic silhouette yet highly embellished design," says makeup artist Jenn Streicher of the actress' Met Gala look. That meant playing up her client’s lips instead of her eyes, which is typically the duo's go-to.
“You always want to take the theme into consideration but not overdo it, so I stayed away from going with a traditional red to set Emily apart, as I did want to give her a bold lip,” Streicher tells Pret-a-Reporter. Instead, Streicher opted for a deep raspberry — Nars Audacious Lipstick in Vera ($32) — that made Blunt's eyes pop.
As for the rest of the elegant look, Streicher infused her cheeks with luminosity via Nars Dual-Intensity Blush in Fervor ($45), using the lighter shade to highlight her cheekbones. And she created a soft, smoky eye using Nars Single Eye Shadow ($25) along with a couple of coats of L’Oreal mascara ($9) and false lashes to create drama.
