Emma Stone to Star as Rosemary Kennedy in 'Letters From Rosemary'
Stone will play President John F. Kennedy's eldest sister, who underwent a prefrontal lobotomy at 23.
Emma Stone will play Rose Marie “Rosemary” Kennedy, the eldest sister of President John F. Kennedy, in a new film called Letters From Rosemary.
The spec was a Black List script by Nick Yarborough, and will be produced by Steve Golin and Doug Wald of Anonymous Content along with Allard Cantor, Jarrod Murray and Richard Arlook.
Rose Marie (also known as "Rosemary") Kennedy, the daughter of Joseph Kennedy, Sr. and Rose Fitzgerald, showed signs of mental disability that the family kept hidden. When she was 23, Rosemary was one of the first people to receive a prefrontal lobotomy, but its failure left her permanently incapacitated.
Stone, repped by WME, Anonymous Content and attorney PJ Shapiro, was most recently seen in Woody Allen's Irrational Man, and has Damien Chazelle's La La Land with Ryan Gosling coming up. She also is slated to play Billie Jean King in Battle of the Sexes.
