Emma Stone in Talks to Star in Broadway's 'Cabaret'
The next big name to headline the Kit Kat Klub? Emma Stone.
The Magic in the Moonlight actress is currently in negotiations to join Cabaret on Broadway, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.
The actress would star in the Roundabout Theatre Company's production of the musical as Sally Bowles, a role currently showcasing Michelle Williams in her Broadway debut. The show sees Alan Cumming reprising his role as Emcee in the revival of John Kander's and Fred Ebb's Berlin-set musical, directed by Sam Mendes and Rob Marshall.
Williams has extended her run through Nov. 9, and the limited run at Studio 54 is currently set through Jan. 4, 2015.
Mendes dramatically rebooted the 1966 musical — set in a Berlin nightclub at the dawn of the Nazi Party's rise to power — at London's Donmar Warehouse in 1993, with Cumming and Jane Horrocks starring. He later transferred the production to Broadway with Cumming in tow and Natasha Richardson playing Sally; Marshall was brought on as co-director and choreographer. That production won four Tonys and ran for 2,377 performances, closing in January 2004.
