German state teams with International AcademyCANNES -- The International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences will cooperate with the media authorities of the German state North Rhine-Westphalia in a partnership aimed at establishing a transatlantic dialogue between U.S. and German TV professionals.
The announcement was made Monday at MIPTV by Academy president Bruce L. Paisner and Andreas Krautscheid, NRW minister for federal and media affairs.
The cooperation also will serve to act as a showcase for TV and film productions shot in NRW. Home to such broadcast giants as RTL and WDR, NRW is Europe's No. 1 production location.
The initiative was spearheaded by Emmy-winning German producer Leopold Hoesch and, on the German side, will be under the patronage of minister Krautscheid, NRW Film Board CEO Michael Schmid-Ospach and Norbert Schneider, director of NRW's Media Authority.
