The 2013 telecast will feature extended remembrances for five individuals in addition to the traditional reel.

The Television Academy announced Monday that Sunday's Primetime Emmy telecast will feature an extended "In Memoriam" segment, highlighting several actors and one producer who died in the last year.

On top of the traditional reel of late industry personalities, James Gandolfini, Gary David Goldberg, Cory Monteith, Jean Stapleton and Jonathan Winters are each getting special recognition during the ceremony.

Sopranos actress Edie Falco will speak for her late co-star, Gandolfini, while Michael J. Fox will pay tribute to Family Ties producer Goldberg. Glee star Jane Lynch is speaking on behalf of her cast for Monteith's tribute, while Rob Reiner is handling Stapleton's segment and Robin Williams will honor his friend and mentor, Winters.

“The ‘In Memoriam’ is a very emotional and evocative segment for the Emmys, or any annual awards program,” said EP Ken Ehrlich. “These five individuals brought us such great entertainment and joy. So having their close friends share personal remembrances is something that will be very meaningful for television audiences across the country and across the generations. And our traditional ‘In Memoriam’ segment will be presented in a unique new format that will give added importance to an already much anticipated segment of the Emmy show.”

Erlich has long been a proponent of the award show "In Memoriam." He was among the first to incorporate a live musical component during the Grammys 10 years ago.

The Emmys will air live on CBS this Sunday, Sept. 22, from the Nokia Theatre at L.A. LIVE.
