'Empire'-Inspired Jewelry Can Now Be Yours
Who doesn't need a gilded Cookie nameplate?
The quest to become the IRL Cookie Lyon just got a little easier.
Fox has partnered with King Ice, a Los Angeles-based jeweler known for plated pendants and chains, to release a 15-piece collection inspired by the network's fashionable cult hit, Empire.
“We originally started making pieces exclusively for the show, including two pieces that debuted during season two — a microphone flag that represented the Lyon dynasty and a Gutter Life piece," said King Ice co-founders Cuong Diep and Derek Belay. "We wanted to develop a jewelry line for fans of the show — providing an opportunity to further interact with characters and symbols made popular within the street wear and Empire universe."
Though Cookie herself is more apt to wear Moschino and Versace on the show, the King Ice + Empire collection gives fans a taste of the bling life without the designer price tag afforded by owning a lucrative record company. Retailing for $40 to $90, the collection of rings, bracelets, pendants and chains has just a touch of luxury via 14K gold plating and handset CZ. Pieces include a Cookie nameplate, a Nefertiti pendant and an Empire gold ring, all available now on KingIce.com ahead of next month's season-three premiere.
The jewelry line is one of a series of Empire merch lines, including apparel collaborations (with Hood by Air and Saks Fifth Avenue), a beauty collection with CoverGirl, nail polish by Deborah Lippman and a new fragrance set for both men and women launching next month.
