Endemol launches Scandinavian operation
Michael Porseryd to head new division in StockholmLONDON -- "Big Brother" and "The Marriage Ref" producer Endemol is launching a new fully owned Scandinavian operation, Endemol Nordic, which aims to tap the local format and reality markets in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland, it was announced Thursday.
Based in Stockholm, the division will be headed by newly appointed CEO Michael Porseryd, formerly vp and COO of Metronome Group, which was acquired last year by Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Group.
Endemol will seek to roll out local versions of new shows as "Million Dollar Drop" in a market where such shows as "Wipeout," "Fear Factor" and "1 vs 100" have already proved successful.
"Scandinavia is one of the world's most dynamic and creative TV markets and represents a significant opportunity for a company like Endemol," said Porseryd.
"What's more there is a rich pool of talent across the region and I'm very much looking forward to building a first class team and delivering a new line up of international hits," he added.
