Ennio Morricone to Head Rome Film Festival Jury
Ballet star Roberto Bolle will join the Oscar-winning composer on the Rome jury.
COLOGNE, Germany - Oscar-winning composer Ennio Morricone will be president of the jury for the 2011 International Rome Film Festival. The composer of the classic scores to films including Once Upon A Time In The West and Days of Heaven will be charged with handing out this year's Marc' Aurelio awards for competiting films at the Rome fest, which runs Oct. 27-Nov. 4.
In addition to his lifetime achievement Oscar in 2007, Morricone has won virtually every honor available for a film composer, inlcuding two Golden Globes, five BAFTAs, the Venice Film Festival's Golden Lion, the Leopard of Honour at the Locarno Film Festival and Sweden's Polar Music Prize.
The Italian-born composer will be joined on the Rome jury by another local cultural treasure: ballet star Roberto Bolle. The first Italian to become principle dancer with the American Ballet Theatre in New York, Bolle has also been the face of several ad campaigs, including ones for Ferragamo and Giorgio Armani.
