Entertainment One Bolsters Alternative TV With First-Look Deals
The Canadian producer hired former Evolution Media exec David Shaye, and inked agreements with reality producers Kevin Healey, Riaz Patel and Ben Bitonti.
TORONTO — Canadian producer Entertainment One is making deeper moves into alternative programming by hiring former Evolution Media exec David Shaye to the position of vp development, U.S. alternative programming.
The eOne Television division has also inked a trio of separate first-look agreements with reality producers Kevin Healey, Riaz Patel and Ben Bitonti.
Shaye will help build eOne Television's slate of unscripted series by developing new series ideas.
To that end, the first-look agreements with Healey, Patel and Bitonti aim at creating a development pipeline for the producer and its Los Angeles office.
Shaye joins eOne from Evolution Media, where he served as vp development and co-executive producer on E!'s Botched and ABC Family's Beverly Hills Nannies reality series.
He will report to Tara Long, senior vp alternative programming at eOne Television.
Kevin Healey has created, written, developed and produced reality series like Syfy's Scare Tactics, and FOX's Mobbed with Howie Mandel.
Emmy-nominated Riaz Patel has executive-produced pilots and series for MTV, TLC, VH1, Style, OWN, A&E, AMC, Lifetime and Bravo.
Patel's latest series, I Heart Nick Carter, debuts on VH1 in September.
Ben Bitonti founded Moneystache Entertainment in 2011 to develop unique original content for U.S. and international markets.
