Entertainment One Takes North American Rights to British Rom-Com 'Cuban Fury'
The Canadian distributor plans a 2013 release for the Nick Frost and Rashida Jones film about a man who reignites his love for salsa dancing.
WHISTLER, B.C. -- Entertainment One has acquired the North American rights to James Griffiths’ romantic comedy Cuban Fury from Studiocanal.
The Big Talk Production picture stars Nick Frost, Rashida Jones, Chris O’Dowd, Ian McShane and Olivia Colman.
Based on an idea by Frost, the story sees a down-on-his-luck man (Frost) who reignites his long-dormant passion for salsa dancing, thanks to a newfound love for his American boss, played by Jones.
The British rom-com is produced by Nira Park and James Biddle for Big Talk, whose credits include Shaun of the Dead, Scott Pilgrim Vs. the World and the upcoming Sightseers, which bowed in Cannes.
Cuban Fury was co-financed by Studiocanal, Film4 and the BFI Film Fund.
The deal with Studiocanal, coming out of AFM, follows the Canadian distributor expanding its U.S. film distribution arm.
Entertainment One plans a 2013 release of Cuban Fury.
