Canada's Entertainment One Snaps Up U.K. Rights to Horror Film 'The 4th Reich' (Exclusive)
Project attracts backing from Kevin Scott Frakes’ PalmStar Media Capital; AV Pictures selling at Marche du Film 2012.
LONDON – Canada’s Entertainment One has secured all U.K. rights to the Shaun Robert Smith-directed WW2 action-horror film The 4th Reich.
The project details the story of a brigade of British soldiers sent into occupied mainland Europe who find themselves up against an enemy created by Nazi scientists as an all-powerful fighting force for what would be the 4th Reich.
The deal was inked with the distributor by Scott Mann and James Edward Barker’s edgy U.K. indie production banner Mann Made Films and British-based international sales outfit AV Pictures.
The movie, for which the cast has been kept under wraps aside from Sean Pertwee and horror legend Tom Savini, is set to shoot this May in the U.K.
It will be produced by Mann (The Tournament) and Barker (220.127.116.11) with Kevin Scott Frakes (Night Train to Lisbon) joining filmmaker Michael J Bassett (Silent Hill 2) as an executive producer.
Frakes is the latest addition to the list of project backers bringing his PalmStar Media Capital aboard to provide part of the finance alongside AV Pictures and some additional private equity finance.
AV Pictures will pre-sell the movie until the end of this year’s Marche du Film before the film begins shooting towards the end of May.
eOne's release schedule for the film has yet to be detailed.
Barker said that with eOne aboard and the addition PalmStar, "we believe this shows how much of an international project this can be and we are proud to have such a solid team behind this now."
