Five episodes into Season 5 and on the heels of the third straight Emmy for Jeremy Piven, HBO's comedy "Entourage" has been renewed for another season.

Production on the sixth season of the Hollywood-centric show created by Doug Ellin will begin in early 2009, with launch slated for the summer.

" 'Entourage' is that rare phenomenon in TV: a smart, sharp comedy series that continues to evolve," HBO West Coast head Michael Lombardo said.

Ellin praised HBO for "allowing the show to grow and mature."

"I never imagined when we started that we would make it to six seasons," he said.

"Entourage" joins HBO's slate of 2009 series that includes the returning shows "Big Love," "Flight of the Conchords," "In Treatment" and "True Blood" as well as new drama "The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency." (partialdiff)
