Epix Unveils Original Programming Slate
Epix is expanding its slate of original programming by announcing new projects -- including films centered on William Shatner and Monty Python's Graham Chapman -- that will premiere later this year.
“These original programs are a great complement to the impressive motion pictures coming to EPIX – the stories are moving, the laughs are real, and the end result is entertaining programs that allow us to give viewers even more reasons to come to Epix on TV, online and on devices,” said Epix CEO and president Mark Greenberg.
Original documentary William Shatner's Get a Life!, based on Shatner's book, will premiere this July. The film "examines the mystery, longevity and the cultural phenomena of Star Trek and its long-obsessed fans known as Trekkers.' "
The 3D biopic A Liar's Autobiography - The Untrue Story of Monty Python's Graham Chapman is set to launch in November on Epix and is based on the memoir of the late Monty Python member, who died in 1989. The film also reunites the Monty Python troupe.
Other Epix programs that were unveiled include Roger Corman's Attack of the 50 Foot Cheerleader, airing in August; documentary Flight 800: A 14-Year Investigation Cracks the Case, to air in September; and comedy special Jim Norton: Please Be Offended, slated for a June broadcast.
Additionally, Epix will broadcast two championship boxing matches: Lucian Bute vs. Carl Froch World Super Middleweight Championship live on May 26 and Wladimir Klitschko vs. Tony Thompson World Heavyweight Championship live on July 7.
Epix, a joint venture between Viacmon, MGM and Lionsgate, is a premium entertainment service.
