Erik Fleming Promoted At Rich Hippie Productions (Exclusive)
He has been named president of production as the company develops a wide slate of feature films, documentaries and TV series.
Erik Fleming has been promoted to president of production for Rich Hippie Productions.
“With his creative vision, experience and extensive contacts,” said CEO Sydney Holland, “he is incredibly capable of executing our mission to develop and produce thoughtful and entertaining, quality projects that appeal to a broad range of audiences.”
Rich Hippie, which Holland founded in 2012, develops, produces and finances projects for TV and film, both scripted and unscripted.
Fleming, who has been working at the company for the past year, was previously co-executive producer of TLC's Texas Cheer Moms and The Psychic Next Door. He worked on The Surreal Life, was a director/producer on America’s Funniest Home Videos, and a producer on Bravo’s Queer Eye for The Straight Girl.
He directed the indie features My Brother the Pig (Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes) and Bad Trip (Kevin Connolly). He was also one of the writers on Help Up (Jamie Foxx).
Other film projects include American Eve, about an early 20th century chorus girl who had an affair and was murdered by her jealous husband.
Rich Hippie is working with actress/producer Tara Subkoff, who will make her directing debut on a suspense thriller produced in association with Oren Segal of Radius Entertainment. Fleming and Holland will also finance and exec produce Unconscious, a psychological thriller starring Kate Bosworth and Wes Bentley.
They co-executive produced the documentary Dancing in Jaffa, which debuted at Tribeca in 2013 about a ballroom dancer who returns to his hometown to bring Israeli and Palestinian children together. It’s directed by Hilla Medalia (To Die In Jerusalem), with fellow executive producers Morgan Spurlock, Nigel Lythgoe, LaToya Jackson and Albie Hecht.
They, along with Natalie Portman and her husband Benjamin Millepied, are executive producing The Seventh Fire, about the Ojibwe community's fight for personal and cultural identity in northern Minnesota.
On television, Rich Hippie is developing a docu-soap series with BermanBraun and senior executive producer Gunnar Wetterberg, and are also partners with P&L Media (Peter Brennan, Lisa Lew, Justin Page) in two unscripted shows, one about matchmaking and the other about cooking.
