SYDNEY -- ESPN will launch a localized version of its flagship "SportsCenter" program in Australia on Dec. 16, the 11th such version of the program to air outside the U.S., the sports broadcaster said Monday.

The show will be anchored by former Network Ten presenter Ryan Phelan and will be produced out of ESPN's headquarters in Connecticut, with reporters on the ground in Australia.

The program will air daily at 7 a.m. Australia time and cover the major sporting events and stories relevant to Australian and New Zealand sports fans as well as international sports with particular appeal in the market.

"The production values and journalistic integrity synonymous with 'SportsCenter' in the U.S. and around the world will also be present in this show," ESPN vp production and operations Chris Calcinari said. "The telecast will utilize the depth and breadth of ESPN's news and information arm as well as the sophistication of ESPN's technical center, one of the most advanced in the world."
