EU seeks ideas on $155 mil Mundus fund

Aid to boost links between global industries

BRUSSELS -- The European Commission has appealed to filmmakers, studios, distributors and exhibitors to offer ideas on how a planned 100 million euro-a-year ($155 million) film aid program could boost links between industry professionals across the globe.

The proposed "Media Mundus" program would promote European movies in overseas territories and help foreign filmmakers break into the EU market.

It would run alongside the EU's established Media plan, which has backed movies including this year's Palme d'Or winner "The Class."
