Eva Longoria to Wear This Dress From Her New Limited Collab Onstage at DNC Tonight
The former 'Desperate Housewives' actress just launched a collection with The Limited — which includes a dress she will be wearing to the DNC in Philadelphia.
Eva Longoria wastes no time.
The actress and Devious Maids star/producer was in New York on Monday morning to preview her new collection for chain store The Limited, which was merely on a stopover on her way to Philadelphia, where she will speak at the opening night of the Democratic National Convention (along with Lena Dunham, America Ferrera and Sarah Silverman).
“I’m super excited,” said Longoria while showing the collection, which includes the white waffle-knit dress that she will be wearing tonight — as well as six pieces that are available now on The Limited’s website.

The actress is known for her red-carpet fashion savvy (and her fashionable friends, like Victoria Beckham, who designed the dress for her May 21 wedding to José Antonio Bastón in Mexico), so it’s somewhat surprising that this is her first foray into fashion. “People keep asking me why it’s taken me so long to do a clothing line, because I’ve been wanting to do it forever,” said Longoria, who donned a yellow knit dress from the collection for its preview. “I was offered a lot of different deals — it was basically to just put your name on something. But I wanted to be part of the process. I wanted to design, I wanted to help in the sourcing, I wanted to be involved in buying the artwork [for prints and graphics], everything. And to do that, it is its own full-time job.”
Sourcing materials and stitching are not unfamiliar tasks for Longoria, who grew up sewing. “I used to sew throw pillows and curtains — that’s why I started my home line first,” she said. “And then I started making dresses for my friends. Armholes were really hard, though! But I loved it, and I’ve been sewing for a very long time. I have a sewing room in my house and I have the industrial sewing machines.”
Standout items in the collection (which fully launches Aug. 16) include silk bow-tie blouses, a caped blazer (one of the actress’s favorite pieces) and knit dresses (which Longoria calls “onesies — you jump in, zip it up and you’re done”). There also are a handful of graphic tees with wine phrases on them (“#winegoals” and “I get better with wine” to name a few), which help solidify Longoria’s design philosophy for the collection, which she describes as a “work to wine” wardrobe. Prices range from $59 to $159.

The project will be an ongoing collaboration with The Limited, and Longoria is already at work designing the spring/summer 2017 collection.
The actress will head to Wales after the DNC to begin filming her new BBC Two comedy Decline and Fall, the first-ever television adaptation of Evelyn Waugh’s comic novel.
Longoria is not the first celebrity to sell accessible fashion from a political convention stage. Last week, Ivanka Trump tweeted a link to her followers about how to get the $138 blush-colored dress she wore onstage when she introduced her dad. It was from her Ivanka Trump Collection.
