Evan Rachel Wood to Star in John Hughes-Inspired Cabaret Musical (Exclusive)
'For the Record,' running Feb. 6 through April 4 at West Hollywood's DBA, highlights the director's best-known films.
Actress Evan Rachel Wood will star in the musical For the Record: Dear John Hughes, joining Rumer Wilis (90210) , Tracie Thoms (Rent) and Lindsey Gort (Carrie Diaries) for a theatrical run scheduled for Feb. 6 through April 4 at West Hollywood's DBA.
For the Record offers a modern-day cabaret take on director John Hughes' best-known films, including Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day Off and The Breakfast Club, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2015, exploring such coming-of-age themes as relationships, education and music.
Choreographed by Emmy-nominee Spencer Liff (So You Think You Can Dance), the For the Record series has previously featured the works of Robert Zemeckis, Quentin Tarantino and Martin Scorsese. The Hughes tribute will simultaneously play in Chicago, the director's home town, and, starting in November, on the Norwegian Cruise Line.
For the Record was created by Christopher Lloyd Bratten, Shane Scheel and Anderson Davis in 2009. Additional castmembers include Jackie Seiden (Jersey Boys), Ruby Lewis (We Will Rock You), Peter Porte (Baby Daddy), Olivia Harris, Ciaran McCarthy, Patrick Mulvey (Broadway's Billy Elliot) and Doug Kreeger (Broadway's Les Miserables).
Following Wood's Emmy-nominated supporting role in HBO's Mildred Pierce, the actress is set to return to the network to star in the dark odyssey Westworld, which is executive produced by J.J. Abrams and Jerry Weintraub.
