Evel Knievel Special: He 'Had an Ego That Would Take Two Dump Trucks to Haul Around' (Exclusive Video)

The Hollywood Reporter debuts an exclusive sneak peek at Discovery Channel's new special, featuring interviews with the daredevil's friends and colleagues.

Evel Knievel was many things -- fearless, ambitious -- but modesty was apparently not one of his traits.

In a new special airing at 10 p.m. Monday on Discovery Channel, friends and colleagues who knew him well share their memories of the American daredevil.

"He had an ego that would take two dump trucks to haul around," says one expert in this clip, which is exclusive to The Hollywood Reporter. "He was the biggest, [most] egotistical son on a bitch I've ever known or met in my entire life."

In the clip, they also share shocking stories about how he treated his staffers.

Pure Evel: An American Legend also traces Knievel's life from growing up in the rough mining town of Butte, Montana, to his outlandish stunts including the infamous jump over the fountains at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, through his final days in which he ended up penniless. It also takes an inside look at his horrific crashes and how he used publicity and marketing to captivate a crowd.
