Ewan McGregor Thriller 'Son of a Gun' Sells to More International Markets
The debut feature from Australian director Julius Avery scores a number of deals through Altitude Film Sales after finding North American distribution in Cannes.
LONDON – Having scored deals with A24 for a U.S. release and Canada’s Mongrel Media following its Cannes market premiere, Australian heist thriller Son of a Gun has clinched a number of international distribution deals.
Altitude Film Sales said the film racked up deals across Europe, Asia, South America and the Middle East, including Dutch Filmworks (Benelux), TF1 (France), Seven/Spentzos (Greece and Cyprus), Prorom (Romania and Hungary), All Media (C.I.S.), Kino Swiat (Poland), Cinemania (the Balkans), Svensk (Scandinavia and Iceland), California Filmes (South and Central America), Gulf Film (Middle East), Kadokawa (Japan), PT Prima (Indonesia), Korea Screen (South Korea) and Mono Group (Thailand).
Previously inked were deals with Koch Media for the U.K., Hopscotch Entertainment One for Australia and New Zealand, and Ascot Elite for German-speaking Europe.
The feature debut from Australian director Julius Avery, based on his own original screenplay, Son of a Gun stars Ewan McGregor along with rising stars Alicia Vikander and Brenton Thwaites. The film was backed by Media House Capital.

Earlier this month it was rumored that McGregor might join the cast of True Detective for its second season. In June, McGregor signed on for Phillip Noyce's adaptation of Philip Roth's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Pastoral.
