Ex-BBC CFO Neil Chugani to join Shine
Begins CFO post in Sept., will also join group's boardLONDON -- Former BBC Worldwide, Goldman Sachs and BSkyB executive Neil Chugani is to become CFO for Elisabeth Murdoch's Shine Group, the fast-growing international producer-distributor that now has operations in 25 countries. He replaces current CFO Dan O'Brien who leaves the company after the summer.
Chugani, most recently CFO at BBC Worldwide, takes up his new position in September, jointly reporting to Shine Group CEO and chairman Elisabeth Murdoch and Shine Group president Alex Mahon. He will also take a seat on the group's board.
He is charged with driving financial strategy for the Shine Group internationally. Last year the group produced 1,500 hours of programming, including such formats as "Masterchef," and distributed over 3,000 hours of programming in 150 territories.
At BBC Worldwide, Chugani oversaw financial and M&A strategy, including the five-year growth strategy and acquisitions in a slew of independent production companies, including Andy Harries' Left Bank Pictures, Stephen Fry's Sprout and Henry Normal and Steve Coogan's Baby Cow Prods.
"Neil's track record is exemplary. He has successfully implemented creative broadcast strategies on a global basis and his corporate finance credentials are second to none in our industry," said Murdoch.
"He is a significant hire for Shine Group at this pivotal point in the company's growth who I am convinced will contribute significantly to the next stages of our development."
