CANNES -- Some 250 industry executives found time in their busy Cannes Day 1 schedules to pay tribute to Wouter Barendrecht, the Fortissimo Films founder whose sudden death in April shocked the indie sector of the industry.

Tributes were led by Australian producer Jan Chapman, who introduced memorial organizer and Toronto programmer Noah Cowan, Cannes chief selector Thierry Fremaux and Fortissimo Films co-chairman Michael J. Werner.
