'Exit Through the Gift Shop,' Joan Rivers Doc Among Top Winners at Cinema Eye Honors

Exit Through the Gift Shop, the celebrated documentary on mysterious British artist Banksy, took the top award, for outstanding achievement in nonfiction feature filmmaking, at the 2011 Cinema Eye Honors on January 18 at New York's Museum of the Moving Image.
Among the other big winners at the fourth annual event was filmmaker Laura Poitras, who was named outstanding director for her Al Qaeda drama, The Oath. Lixin Fan's Last Train Home nabbed three awards, including for outstanding production. And the audience choice prize went to Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg for their documentary Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work.
The event will be broadcast on the Documentary Channel on January 30.
