'Extreme Makeover' Production Company Bulks Up Development Ranks
Lighthearted Entertainment taps Rob LaPlante senior vp development, ups Jeff Spangler.
Lighthearted Entertainment, the production company behind Extreme Makeover, is continuing its push into development.
The company on Monday tapped Rob LaPlante senior vp development and upped director of development Jeff Spangler to vp development.
LaPlante, who has been with BermanBraun and Tijuana Entertainment, created and executive produced two seasons of A&E's Obsessed, in addition to working on MTV's Is She Really Going Out With Him? and The Apprentice, on which he served as producer/casting director for its first six seasons.
"I am delighted to have two incredible executives like Rob and Jeff who will lead Lighthearted Entertainment and build on our current roster of shows,” Lighthearted Entertainment CEO/EP Howard Schultz said in announcing the moves. “Rob is the perfect person to take the reins of development and usher us into our 20th year in the entertainment business.”
Spangler will work alongside LaPlante to coordinate the company's development for cable and broadcast networks stateside and abroad.
Launched in 1992, Lighthearted Entertainment's credits include Studs, NEXT and The Moment of Truth.
