Facebook Down: Brief Outage Cuts Off Millions of Users

Millions of users in the U.K., Israel, China, Singapore and India received an error message when they tried to access Facebook on Thursday.

Facebook experienced a brief international outage in the early hours Thursday, leaving millions of viewers with an error message when they tried to access the service. 

"We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can," a statement on the social networking site said.

Users in the U.K., Israel, China, Singapore and India were among those most heavily affected, according to reports. It wasn't immediately clear whether other parts of the world were impacted. 

Most territories reported that the site was back online within an hour. Users took to competing social media platforms, such as Twitter, to discuss the outage. 

Facebook has not yet commented on the cause of the breakdown.
