Fadoo Productions to Produce Canadian Version of Keshet's 'Marathon'
The Israeli company's joint venture has grabbed the format rights to the docu-reality series about six people training to run a marathon.
TORONTO -- Keshet International's Canadian joint venture has grabbed the format rights to the docu-reality series Marathon, and tapped Fadoo Productions to produce a local version.
The global distribution arm of the Keshet Media Group has inked an exclusive co-production agreement to develop a local version of the Israeli series about ordinary people training to run a marathon in eight months.
The original Marathon series was produced by Endemol Israel for Keshet Broadcasting.
Keshet Canada, led by Mark Rubenstein, selected Corey Russell at Fadoo Productions to produce the Canadian adaptation.
“Corey is an outstanding television storyteller in the sports lifestyle genre, and the perfect partner to bring Marathon to Canadian television and digital platforms," said Rubinstein, managing director of Keshet Canada, in a statement.
The launch of Keshet Canada -- to sell formats and forge partnerships with Canadian broadcasters and producers after setting up similar outposts in the U.S., the U.K. and Australia -- comes as Keshet International continues to expand its global footprint.
