Fandango Inks Partnership With ArcLight Cinemas
The ticketing website has expanded its coverage in Southern California, Chicago and Washington, D.C. with the inclusion of the movie chain.
Fandango is expanding its reach with the inclusion of the ArcLight cinema chain. The digital network has inked a deal with theaters throughout Southern California, Chicago and Washington, D.C.
In the Southern California marketplace, Fandango has now increased its share to 90 percent of local screening options, including ArcLight's flagship Hollywood theater complex, which is built around the Cinerama Dome.
“ArcLight is a master at making moviegoing an event, with their deluxe cinemas, reserved seating, state-of-the-art presentation, gourmet cafes and full bars, and we’re thrilled to offer our customers the opportunity to experience movies uninterrupted at their world-class venues,” says Kevin Shepela, svp, head of commerce for Fandango.
ArcLight has 139 theaters across the country. ArcLight's sister company, Pacific Theaters, is already a partner with Fandango.
In order to advertise the new partnership, Fandango and ArcLight Cinemas plan to host screenings for moviegoers this fall, which will include movie-themed giveaways.
“ArcLight is a theater for movie lovers and ArcLight guests nationwide can now look to Fandango to stay on top of the latest films,” says Gretchen McCourt, evp cinema programming for ArcLight. “We look forward to working closely with Fandango to grow our audience throughout the country and provide our guests convenience and ease with their ticketing experience.”
In 2016, ticketing sales were up 50 percent year-over-year, with 70 percent of the company’s tickets now sold on mobile devices.
