Fantasia Barrino has first post-overdose gig

Announces 'I'm back' during set at sports star's birthday party

Just a week after her reported suicide attempt, Fantasia Barrino was in good spirits when she stepped out this past weekend to serenade Charlotte Bobcats basketball player Tyrus Thomas at his birthday party, reports Billboard.

In her first public performance since the Aug. 9 overdose, "American Idol's" third season winner sang "Happy Birthday" to Thomas before offering up a medley of R&B classics, including the telling track "Tell Me Something Good" by Rufus and Chaka Kahn.

The singer briefly addressed her recent personal controversies by telling the crowd, "When they said it was over for me, I'm here to say I'm back.'"
