Felicia Day’s Geek & Sundry Heads to Hulu With ‘Caper’
The digital media company has signed a deal with Hulu to distribute superhero series “Caper” and five other series.
Geek & Sundry, a digital media company co-founded by Felicia Day, has inked a deal with Hulu to distribute several of its online series on the video platform.
The first Geek & Sundry show to roll out on Hulu and Hulu Plus is Caper, an Amy Berg comedy that follows the everyday drama of life as a superhero. The nine-episode series, starring Abby Miller (Justified), Beth Riesgraf (Leverage), Hartley Sawyer (Glory Dayz) and Harry Shum Jr. (Glee), will simultaneously premiere the first two episodes on YouTube and Hulu on Feb. 12.
“We haven’t done any kind of superhero programming before,” says Geek & Sundry co-founder Sheri Bryant. “We had to find the right superhero story. This particular superhero story is not about superhero antics but rather life as a superhero.”
Following that launch, Geek & Sundry will roll out other series on the platform, including Wil Wheaton’s board game show TableTop, Day’s roundup series The Flog, storytelling series Written by a Kid and space comedy Outlands. Thirteen episodes of each series will be available on Hulu.
“The next phase of growth for us in our third year is really focusing on expanding beyond YouTube,” says Bryant. “That’s where this partnership with Hulu comes in. We’re very much starting to spread our tentacles around the digital world.”
