Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Hollander Join Cast for Ralph Fiennes’ ‘The Invisible Woman’
The second directing job for Fiennes, in which he also stars, tells the tale of Charles Dickens’ secret lover.
LONDON – Ralph Fiennes's glittering cast for his sophmore directorial outing The Invisible Woman, includes Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas and Tom Hollander among those chosen to star opposite him.
The movie, shooting on location in the U.K. from now until the end of June, is based on Claire Tomalin’s biography of Nelly Ternan (Jones), and details the story of the woman with whom Charles Dickens (Fiennes) had a secret decade-long relationship.
Adapted for the screen by Abi Morgan (Shame, The Iron Lady), The Invisible Woman is produced by Stewart Mackinnon (Quartet), Gabrielle Tana (The Duchess, Coriolanus), Christian Baute (Funny Games) and Carolyn Marks Blackwood.
U.K. banner WestEnd Films is co-financing and handles worldwide sales, with Lionsgate pre-buying U.K. distribution rights.
BBC Films and BFI are backing the project with WestEnd Films which is being mounted by Headline Pictures and Magnolia Mae Films.
The movie marks the first occasion Fiennes and Scott Thomas have appeared together on screen since the Oscar winner The English Patient.
Fiennes will also soon be seen in the role of Magwitch in Mike Newell’s adaptation of Dickens’ Great Expectations.
