Fender to honor Jimi Hendrix


Iconic guitar maker Fender will add to its Fender Hall of Fame, which the company established in 2007, by honoring guitar great Jimi Hendrix and late founding Fender employee George Fullerton at its fourth annual induction ceremony on Aug. 13 at Arizona's Tempe Center for the Arts.

The two inductees will join a notable list of Fender founders, musicians and other historically significant figures whose artistic contributions are permanently commemorated within the Fender Hall of Fame.

Janie Hendrix, the guitarist's stepsister and CEO of Experience Hendrix, which preserves and protects the artist's continuing legacy, will be accept the honor for the late musician.

Other guests expected at the Aug. 13 event include producer Eddie Kramer, who has worked with the likes of Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles; Geoff Fullerton, accepting honors for his farther, who passed away last July; and guitarist-singer Kenny Wayne Shepherd and drummer Chris Layton, who are scheduled to perform at the ceremony.

The event is not open to the public.
