European Parliament's honor for the best European film of the year
BERLIN -- When We Leave, Feo Aladag's drama on honor killings and cross-cultural conflict, has won the Prix Lux, the European Parliament's honor for the best European film of the year. The film stars Sibel Kekilli as a German-born Muslim whose family turns against her when she decides to leave her abusive husband.
The prize adds to Aladag's tally for her debut. When We Leave has already been honored at the Tribeca Film Festival and the German Film Awards and is a multiple nominee at next week's European Film Awards on Dec. 4.
