HOPE at FORUM

Producer Ted Hope will deliver the keynote address at Film Independent's Filmmaker Forum, set for Sept. 26-28 at the DGA in Los Angeles. The forum will kick off with a screening of "The Brothers Bloom," written and directed by Rian Johnson.

STREEP, BANDERAS kudos

Meryl Streep and Antonio Banderas will receive Donostia lifetime achievement awards at this year's San Sebastian International Film Festival. Jonathan Demme will chair the official jury. San Sebastian runs Sept. 18-27 in Spain's Basque region.

ROTH to NEW REGENCY

Indie studio New Regency is continuing its enhancement and production growth efforts with the hiring of Eric Roth as executive vp business affairs. Roth held a similar position at the Weinstein Co.

TWO COLOR IN 'BROWN'

Michael Caine and Emily Mortimer have signed on to star in "Harry Brown," a British vigilante thriller from Marv Films. Lionsgate U.K. has acquired U.K. distribution rights for the film, which Daniel Barber is helming. The film will shoot on location in the U.K., and principal photography is set to begin in November. HanWay Films is selling the film in Toronto.
