'X-FILES' BULKS UP ON BLU

Fox will become the latest studio to harness BD-Live with the Blu-ray Disc release of "The X-Files: I Want to Believe," coming Dec. 2. The features include an interactive timeline featuring more than 80 video clip segments from the franchise's archives.

UNION OF EX-SOVIETS

Paramount Pictures International has inked a distribution deal with Central Partnership, Russia's largest independent film producer and distributor. The pact covers the former USSR countries, excluding Ukraine and the Baltic states, and is effective Jan. 1. Disney, meanwhile, announced its first film for the local market, "The Book of Masters," scheduled to premiere in Russia in fall 2009.

LFF SETS EVENTS

The BFI London Film Festival revealed its schedule of events for the U.K. film industry Monday — a lineup that includes debates, talent development projects and the second Film London production finance market. The finance market, the only event of its kind in the U.K., runs Oct. 20-21.

FINAL CUT GETS DCP

Apple and QuVis have introduced a technology aimed at putting a high-end digital-cinema mastering process into the hands of Final Cut Studio users. The QuVIS Wraptor plug-in for Apple Compressor adds the ability to output a Final Cut Pro project or QuickTime movie as a 2K Digital Cinema Package.
